Zetapets v2 is officially offline.

Here's the story. Zetapets v2 will not be entirely gone. This is not some terribly mean prank we were playing; Wulf and I fully intended to shut down v2 completely - unless someone offered to take it over. I mentioned several times in the forums the possibility of v2 and v3 branching, rather than v3 simply succeeding v2. Keptsoul, a community member and former staff member, has in fact offered to host her own version of v2; it will not be called Zetapets, but it will have all your accounts, items, and pets on it, and in many ways will be just like v2 was, except under a different name. To some, Zetapets will never be the same, but others might appreciate that they won't have to give up their accounts, collections, pets, and most of all the Zetapets community.

Wulf and I are not going to be directly involved in hosting or maintaining the site. Beyond setting up the site and possibly helping out with code occasionally, we will be focusing our efforts entirely on v3 from now on. We won't even be staff members on the site. We're also not forcing Keptsoul to change any references to the name Zetapets on her site, despite the fact that it will have a different name - to do so would force an inordinate amount of work on her. She is free to change as many or as few references as she would like.

Lastly I would like to clarify that the site has not been sold, as some rumours have stated. This is an agreement between Keptsoul and ourselves for the sake of v2. We aren't receiving any form of compensation for this; we practically offered to give v2 to any trustworthy person who wanted to host it. We will announce the site and link to it once it is online.

I wanted to add that Keptsoul is being given an older copy of the database from before the "madness" started on Zetapets. So the unwarranted staff powers, bans, mutes, suspends and warnings will all be gone, and your items, ZP, and pets will be found as they were when we did our server upgrade in April.
